Primary Student Council 2022

At NIA, our student council plays an important role in promoting the school’s 10 values and the British value of democracy. The student council acts as the voice of the students and works hard to share their thoughts and ideas to make the school a better place. This year the Student council has worked on a number of projects linked to the school’s values and to encourage academic growth. Examples of some of these projects can be seen below:

The student council introduced worry boxes to each class to provide a safe and anonymous space for students to share their worries and seek support for things they feel anxious about. This initiative promotes an inclusive and supportive environment that aligns with our values and contributes to the well-being of our students.

In addition, the student council has been active in promoting environmental awareness through a Zero Waste competition aimed at educating students on the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling to help the environment in Qatar. They have also taken the initiative to begin developing an outdoor area where students can enjoy nature and learn more about local plants and wildlife, as part of this project the student council worked closely with the school leadership team to build birdhouses and ‘bug hotels’ to be placed around the school grounds. Through their dedication and commitment to sustainability, the student council is instilling important values in our students and contributing to a positive school culture.

Moreover, the student council ran a successful reading competition in Term 1 that resulted in over 1500 book reviews submitted for the World Cup reading competition. By providing students with opportunities to engage in activities that promote their well-being, active citizenship, and learning, the student council is an important part of our school community.
